Teresa and I (mainly Teresa) finally fixed our broken dishwasher. We were certain that food debris must have clogged the drain, and she made me feel guilty about being over zealous in not rinsing our dishes. Then, after taking the dishwasher apart, we finally discovered a little piece of glass that had stopped one of the draining turbines from turning. It was a remnant of a bowl I’d broken months ago. Now the dishwasher’s good as new, and I’m very glad that (while the problem was my fault after all), the moral of the story has nothing to do with with the rinsing dishes by hand. Thus I encourage one and all to continue to relegate menial tasks to the time-saving wonders of modern appliances.
