Ariah has developed a long-standing habbit of shouting, “I’m done!” from the potty, reminiscent of her potty-training days when she needed us to pick her up. Now the tradition is for her to shout “I’m done” and for us to shout “You don’t need to tell us that anymore”. This has been going on for at least six months. Finally, after a routine “I’m done”, Teresa insisted extra firmly that Ariah didn’t need to say this. Ariah broke down crying, eventually saying “I need to say ‘I’m done’ “. So we let her say it.
