The Burden of Intelligence

What if our days consisted of nothing but hunting and gathering? Would we be able to find the same amount of joy in bringing home a rabbit as we do through our modern lifestyles? I think we would be able to have a comparable joy, though I think our capacity for joy would be smaller, limited by ignorance. But does intelligence necessarily incrase our capacity for joy? I’m going to say yes, because anything else would be too depressing to consider. But at the same time, I think having an increased capacity for joy means it’s harder to attain a fulness of that joy. This is the burden of intelligence.
